“Self-care is a way to at least strengthen yourself, find some inner core so that you’re ready when life comes at you.”
– Sarah Black McCulloch

There is a difference between self-care and selfishness. Self-care is about making yourself a strong foundation for what’s to come.

This is what we at Cinta Manis believe to be true.

Culture today perpetuates this idea that in order to succeed you have to hustle. In order to hustle, you have to sacrifice your own well-being.

To sacrifice your well-being is considered selfless. So, to want to preserve your well-being must be selfish, right?

Wrong.

While the hustle is not inherently a bad thing, it becomes toxic when you don’t balance it out with self-care. That’s when a burn-out happens.

It’s certain that the world will provide you with challenges along the road to fulfilling your dreams. By engaging in self-care, you have the tools to strengthen yourself for those moments. You can avoid the burn-outs and the breakdowns.

There’s lots of lists and tips out there for how to do self-care right. We’ve complied the top three for you to focus on:
  1. Choose who you spend your time with. We’ve all heard the saying, “you are the summary of your five closest relationships.” Make them positive ones.
  2. Get outside. Whether it’s going for a jog, walking to the grocery store or even sitting on a park bench, a breath of fresh air can make all the difference.
  3. Ask for help when you need it. No matter how big or how small, don’t forget no one gets there on their own.

Self-care is not about using indulgences like massages and chocolate to escape life, but rather as ways to enjoy the life you have been given. To fill you up with energy and light that you can redirect into your passions.

That’s when the magic happens.

-With Sweet Love
