In a world where there is so much pressure to look beautiful, young and flawless all the time, it can be difficult to accept your body the way it is. We at Cinta Manis want to help you feel good in your own skin.

This kind of confidence goes hand-in-hand with looking after yourself and making healthy choices.

If your body is healthy, your mind will be at peace and if you treat your skin well, you will find that natural glow that allows you to love your body. Inner confidence leads to outer beauty, and we are a big fan of natural beauty.

Why is exfoliation important?

Our bodies naturally shed dead skin cells and regenerate new ones to keep us fresh, healthy and protected. As we age, however, this process slows down and old skin starts to pile up, which can leave us looking tired and rough. What’s more, this build-up can also lead to clogged pores, oily skin and acne.

Exfoliation is one of the best ways to get rid of all those dead cells that you don’t need hanging around. Scrubs help to open the pores and this, in turn, allows your skin to breathe. If you love wearing makeup, exfoliation is even more important as residue builds up and our skin doesn’t like that.

Where should you exfoliate?

You’ve probably heard of exfoliating the skin on your face, but did you know that exfoliating your scalp is just as important? Many beauty routines fail to mention scalp exfoliation, but trust us, you want to know about it!

That 15-second massage you give yourself in the shower every time you wash your hair doesn’t really have as big an impact as you think. At the hairdresser they usually start off with a hardcore scalp exfoliation and it is a truth universally acknowledged that everyone’s hair feels amazing after a trip to the hairdresser.

Scalp exfoliation gets rid of the dead skin, oil and sweat buildup as well as the residue from shampoos and styling products that block your pores and cause ingrown hairs. If you exfoliate once a week, your hair will thank you. You’ll have shiny, voluminous and healthy locks and dandruff will stay far away.

The best ways to exfoliate for natural beauty

There are many natural exfoliation products on the market for both your skin and scalp that will help you to keep your hair shiny and bouncy, and your skin clear and smooth. Look out for natural ingredients like apricot seed, nut shells and argan shells. Peppermint is also an incredible ingredient for your hair.

The skin on your face is sensitive and requires only a light exfoliation about once a week. Don’t overdo it – your touch should be light so as not to damage your skin. If you want to go the natural route, look for scrubs with green tea, charcoal and kiwi ingredients. Not only do they protect and cleanse your skin, but they smell amazing, too.

D.I.Y

You might be surprised to learn that you can even make your very own scrubs at home with some staple, everyday ingredients. Salt, sugar, honey and olive oil are great organic ingredients for skin exfoliation and will not cause any allergic reactions. Many store-bought brands contain harsh chemicals that could eventually damage your skin.

Don’t forget that nature gives us everything we need, too. We at Cinta Manis love spending time at the beach, and what better place to get your natural exfoliation kicks? You can use sea sand to do a gentle, full-body scrub and the best part is that it’s absolutely free!

Start near your feet as you’re sitting down in the shallow waves, and gradually work your way up to your neck and chest. Not only will you feel so connected to Mother Nature, but you’ll have soft, clear and sun-soaked skin that just glows.

Your skin will thank you

Your skincare routine should include an exfoliator only once or twice a week, and it’s a good idea to do it before you go to bed – that way your skin has time to recover while you sleep. While you’re at it, exfoliate your body once in awhile too, especially the parts that work so hard for you like your arms, knees and even your hands.

If you want to keep your skin, hair and complexion looking and feeling healthy and young then you simply need to look after it. Your skin is, after all, the biggest organ in your body and is exposed to so many different things every day. Our skin works extremely hard for us, so the least we can do is give it a little tender love and care once a week!

Keep exfoliating and you will have younger-looking skin and hair, giving you the confidence you need to love the skin you’re in.

-With Sweet Love
